Sanitair Joins Sodexo and Rio Tinto in a Massive Weipa Air Conditioner Project

This month, Sanitair partnered with Sodexo and Rio Tinto to deliver one of our largest air conditioning cleaning projects yet — servicing and sanitising systems in over 50% of homes across Weipa.

Our dedicated team took on the challenge in one of Australia’s most remote and demanding environments. With daily pre-start safety briefings kicking off at sunrise and finishing around 6 pm, our technicians worked tirelessly in heat topping 38°C and under relentless swarms of flies.

Despite the tough conditions, spirits remained high. Every day brought new reminders of Weipa’s wild charm — from the lush tropical landscapes to the enormous “locals” sunbathing just outside our work zones (yes, the crocs).

Collaboration between Sanitair, Sodexo and Rio Tinto ensured operations ran smoothly, maintaining safety and quality standards across hundreds of residential units. The partnership highlights a shared commitment to healthier indoor air quality and safer living environments for the Weipa community.
